Welcome to HIVE

The HIVE platform is a cloud-based environment optimized for the storage and analysis of extra-large data, such as biomedical data, clinical data, next-generation sequencing (NGS) data, mass spectrometry files, and many others. HIVE provides secure web access for authorized users to deposit, retrieve, annotate and compute on Big Data, and to analyze the outcomes using web user interfaces.

There are currently several HIVE instances in both the public and private domains. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is home to two separate HIVE installations: the first is a rapid research and development environment that has been used by the Center for Biologics Evaluation Research (CBER) and other center scientists; the second FDA-HIVE is exclusively used for regulatory assessment of NGS data accompanying new submissions. The public domain of HIVE is supported by The George Washington University (GW) where any scientist around the world can access the resources through the web-portal, once they have registered for an account, and reviewed the HIVE best-practices document.

Tutorials and More

This page describes all of the tools and software that HIVE supports. Additionally, we will work with you to create custom bioinformatic pipelines to suit your needs.

Registering for HIVE

Before you can take advantage of all that HIVE has to offer, you'll need to create and register your account. Due to limited resources at this time, access to HIVE is given on a case-by-case basis. After registering your account, the team will guide you through account activation. This process can be streamlined by completing the HIVE access request form. Your account will be ready to use after the account activation process is complete.
